EMC

Electromagnetic Compatibility

What it actually means

The property of equipment working correctly in its electromagnetic environment — neither disturbed by others' emissions nor disturbing others with its own. It's verified against standards like MIL-STD-461 through defined emissions and susceptibility tests, and retrofitting compatibility into a finished design is notoriously painful.

Where you'll meet it

Environmental qualification programs and integration labs, usually alongside EMI.
