Factory Acceptance Test

What it actually means

The formal test demonstrating, at the manufacturer's facility, that a delivered unit meets its acceptance criteria before it ships — the buyer typically witnesses. Distinct from qualification testing (which proves the design once) — acceptance testing screens every production unit for workmanship escapes.

Where you'll meet it

Production contracts and delivery schedules; often paired with a site acceptance test after installation.
