Shop-Replaceable Unit
What it actually means
A subassembly replaced at the repair shop rather than on the flight line — the circuit cards and modules inside a line-replaceable unit. The LRU/SRU split defines the two-level (or three-level) maintenance concept: swap the box forward, repair the box's innards in the rear.
