Open Systems Architecture

What it actually means

An architecture built on modular design and published, consensus-based interface standards, so that multiple vendors can supply and upgrade components. The generic concept behind the DoD's MOSA mandate and domain standards like FACE and SOSA; "open" is a spectrum, and the honest question is always which interfaces are open and who controls their evolution.
