Contractor-Furnished Equipment
What it actually means
Equipment the contractor provides as part of the contracted end item, in contrast with government-furnished equipment supplied by the customer. The CFE/GFE split matters because it allocates responsibility: schedule slips or defects in GFE are the government's problem, and interface issues between the two are everyone's problem.
