BOM

Bill of Materials

What it actually means

The structured list of every part, subassembly, and raw material needed to build a product, usually hierarchical to mirror the assembly. Engineering and manufacturing typically keep different views (EBOM vs MBOM) of the same product because design structure and build sequence rarely match.

Where you'll meet it

PLM systems, drawing packages, and any conversation between engineering and the factory.
